🏀 Sectional Champions: Cardinal Ritter Boys Basketball

The Cardinal Ritter High School boys basketball team captured the Sectional Championship for the first time since 2009, completing an impressive three-game run through the tournament.

Cardinal Ritter opened sectional play with a 61–49 victory over Riverside High School in the first round. The Raiders carried that momentum into the semifinals, defeating Park Tudor School 66–51 to advance to the championship game.

In the title matchup, Ritter delivered another strong performance, beating University High School 71–56 to secure the program’s first sectional title in 16 years.

The championship run marks a major milestone for the Raiders and sends Cardinal Ritter into the next round of tournament play with momentum. The Raiders will play on Saturday at Greenfield Central vs Triton Central at 7:00pm for the Regional Title!

It’s official! Cardinal Ritter finishes 2nd in the Indiana Crossroads Conference with our 70 - 55 win over Heritage Christian on Friday. We were only 2 possessions away from going undefeated in back to back seasons and 3-peating as Conference Champions. But this has been an incredible 4 year run. We have finished no lower than 2nd place, were back to back conference champions and have a 21-5 conference record. Coach Williams has over a .500 career winning percentage. No basketball coach in Cardinal Ritter history has achieved that! He also has the most wins in his first 4 years and could be the fastest coach to 50 wins. Very proud of the resilience of this team! Devin Bolden just became the school’s all time leading rebounder (a record set in 1969!) and Cheick Wade is closing in on 1,000 career points. He and Devin would be the first two Cardinal Ritter teammates to accomplish this milestone in the same season. But jobs not finished!

ICC Cheerleading Championships ✅

So incredibly grateful for our parents, families, and supporters who showed up and showed out for us today! Your constant support means more than you know, and these girls felt it every step of the way.

Finishing 2nd place IS something to celebrate, but what makes me most proud is how these girls carried themselves—classy, confident, respectful, and supportive not only of each other but of every team on that floor. That speaks volumes about our teams character!!!

Congratulations to Scecina for Placing 1st and taking home the trophy. Heritage Christian had a close finish against Cardinal Ritter coming out in third place.

Wins are great, but growth, sportsmanship, and unity matter more. Proud is an understatement!!!

Save the Date: Jan 30th 2027 @ Cardinal Ritter!

First Day of Sectionals: Singles Competition
(Students bowled independently of their teammates, and could qualify for Regionals as a Single bowler)
Notable Scores from Saturday: Rose Mestas scored her high game of 169; Jayden Diaz scored his high game of 150.

In the female division, 6 bowlers qualified to go to Regionals. MaKenzie Glass tied for 6th place and had to go into a tie breaker. Unfortunately, she lost the tie-breaker to go to Regionals next weekend. (Pretty good for a freshman)

In the male division, 18 bowlers qualified, Nicholas Buell finished 40 pins out of the cut-off.

Second Day of Sectionals: Team Competition
We did not qualify to move on to Regionals, but notable teams that we did manage to beat were Brebeuf, Bishop Chatard, and Covenant Christian to finish 7th. 12 teams competed.

Devin Bolden scored his 1,000th point and became the 6th boys basketball player to eclipse that mark. This took place in the opening round of the city tournament in a 90-49 victory over Herron. He also added 10 rebounds moving him closer to becoming the school’s all time leading rebounder. He followed that up with a 28 point 20 rebound performance in a quarterfinal victory over Heritage Christian. That game took an overtime victory to push Cardinal Ritter to their first City Semifinal appearance in 8 years. Bolden hit the tying basket with 30 seconds to go in overtime followed by the go ahead foul shot. The Raiders survived 2 Heritage Christian possessions to advance to play #1 seed Cathedral. Your Raiders jumped out to an early lead behind the perfect shooting of Bolden in the 1st quarter as he went 6-6 from the field and 1-1 from the foul line to net 11 points in the quarter. The Raiders maintained the lead for 27 of 32 minutes but 2 fouls on Bolden in the 3rd quarter sent him to the bench and gave Cathedral the advantage they needed to come back and secure the win. Hopefully this showing proves to the Raiders that they have a great chance to win their Sectional. Cathedral is the #2 ranked team in 3A and #9 overall in the state. Rylan Coleman played an outstanding floor game throughout the City Tournament as did Anthony Anuka. Devin is 35 rebounds away from becoming the school’s all time leading rebounder! That record has stood since 1969!!
